Basso Palta III
The Basso Palta III represents the third evolution of the brand’s flagship gravel platform, meticulously handmade in Italy. It is designed to be a high-performance "all-terrain" machine that balances the speed of a road bike with the rugged capabilities required for competitive gravel racing and bikepacking.
Engineering and Aerodynamics
At the heart of the Palta III is a refined carbon layup using a blend of Torayca fibers, resulting in a frame that weighs just 970 grams. Basso has significantly improved the bike's aerodynamic profile, achieving an 18% reduction in frontal area compared to the previous model. This speed is complemented by a redesigned fork and a stiffer rear triangle that prioritizes explosive power transfer, while the front end remains tuned to absorb the chatter of unpaved roads.
Geometry and Versatility
The geometry has been updated to offer a more approachable fit without sacrificing its racing soul. By increasing the stack height by 5mm, Basso allows riders more flexibility in their cockpit setup—including the option to run a more aggressive "slammed" stem without requiring spacers. To handle increasingly technical courses, the frame now supports massive tire clearances, fitting up to 52mm in the front and 50mm in the rear.
Integrated Innovation
Integration is a core theme of the Palta III. It introduces a dedicated internal storage compartment in the downtube, secured by a color-matched carbon cover and a Fidlock magnetic system. For comfort, the bike utilizes the second-generation 3B Gen II seatpost clamp, which serves a dual purpose as an anti-vibration system. The inclusion of the SRAM Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) and long-life "solid oil" headset bearings ensures the bike is both future-proof and durable for long-distance adventure.
Tailored Cockpit and Protection
Riders can choose between three distinct cockpit setups—the racing-focused Fuga, the stiff Levita, or the flared Strato—to match their specific riding style. Furthermore, the bike is built for durability with a Vibram-reinforced downtube protector to guard against rock strikes
